Almost a thousand Jewish students, mostly from Russia, have begun a visit to Catalonia to tour the areas of Jewish history in Barcelona and the rest of the territory and to know firsthand their roots.
The purpose of the trip is to discover where and how their ancestors lived, explained Rabbi Mendy Wilansky, who coordinates the stay of the students.
“Gathering experiences and feeling the story is very important. You can not compare them to tell you a historical fact to see where it happened with your own eyes, “stressed Wilansky.
Most of the students come from various cities in Russia, but there are also young people from seven other countries.
For a few days they will tour the spaces of Jewish history in Barcelona and also in the rest of Catalonia and then continue the route to other parts of Europe.THOUSANDS OF RUSSIAN JEWISH STUDENTS SEARCHING FOR THEIR ROOTS IN BARCELONA AND CATALONIA
